Question of the week - Discussion, no volunteer time
students were asked if they ever cheated. 53% admitted to cheating.
Of course, you would not ever cheat but do you think this is true.
Is it accurate?
I am running the same question at work and we will see if we get the same results.

Well, it depends to what degree. I'm sure we've all peeked at some point or even tried to hint our friends, but besides that, only a few go so far as to write answers on their hands or their shoe or something like that.
Honesty:
I too cheated.
I have helped people.
In high school, I gave my homework to people who did not finish theirs, repeatedly. It used to bother me greatly that these kids would not have to write the exams and I did.
We all worked and time was short so yes, I am guilty of cheating.
I also probably turned a few papers so others could read them.
I may not have cheated, myself but giving the answers is the same as cheating.
There is one high school teacher, I swear I still owe marks from a second semester. The third semester probably evened it out but still.
This question caused me a lot of thought.
There are times when we all cheat.
I promise I will do one hundred sit ups.
I will not drive beyond the speed limit to get somewhere on time.

i think ever student has a different definition to what cheating means. some might say that looking over a friend's shoulder during a test is simply helping both of them out (to see if they both got the right answers so they won't fail). but some would think this is totally cheating. but i guess the only thing that triggers the little "cheating" part in our minds is "PRESSURE". Us students are faced with an unbelivable amount of pressure each day. So it's kinda not surprising that some cracked under this pressure and resolve to cheating and other ways to solve their problems.
Stephie,
i like what you say about pressure.
I know when I helped my friends with homework, etc. it was because I wanted to be liked or peer pressure.
You are right. students today have tremendous pressure from parents, teachers and other students.
This is a tough issue.
