The Clique

This is the first book in the Clique series. Massie Block is the leader of the 7th grade most popular and exclusive clique at the Octavian County (all girl) School. Stylish brands and being rich are essential to surviving in the social scene. Claire Lyons is the new girl from Florida, because of money problems, her family had moved in to Massie’s guesthouse for the moment (since their fathers are friends). She is clearly not Clique material, but she strives to be accepted by Massie and her friends. As the story unravels, Claire was humiliated on several occasions by the Clique in her pursuit to be one of them. Finally, Claire couldn’t put up with the cruel treatment she’s been receiving, so she hatched up a scheme to win over the Clique…
(taken from the book): The Clique…the only thing harder than getting in is staying in.
Like the shopaholic series, tons of brand names were mentioned!!! But overall, I thought it was a great book, it shows how mean girls (yup, this book would only appeal to girls…sorry guys) can really get and what others would do to be popular. In our society today, I wonder if this scenario really does exist…at least maybe not to the point of designer wears is a “must”.

sounds good! i always expected clique books to be too... "clique-y". maybe they are, but just not as clique-y as i thought.

ps. in, like grade 5, i thought "clique" was pronounced like "click". lol.
Hey Jess,
Don't worry about pronouncing clique or click. Adults make the same mistake.
My biggest fear is mispronouncing someone's name. i try and ask them if I am pronouncing it correctly so i do not keep making the same mistake.
I think cliques go on everywhere.
i was discussing how they happen in adult life at work, dance classes, high school, clubs, etc.
It is unfortunate because at the end of the day, we all belong to the same organization for a reason.
I think we should form a clique called the Non-cliquers.

to jessica, about the "mispronouncing clique" wrong, a lot of people still says it wrong. i was watching this live show of the band "my chemical romance" (if you know who i'm talking about...)on much. and when the VJ interviewed them, the lead singer pronounced the word as "click". i guess either way of pronounciation is alright.
to emily: hiiii emily!!! you have a lot of hours too!!! =)
to catherine: yeah, i hate it when people mispronounce my name. they usually say stephanie or steephy, it's so annoying. plus they always ask if my original name is stephanie, hate that also, hehe
emialy emily emily... emily chan? cuz if u are then u know me.. ye know, the grade 8 jessica?
