TRAP Newsletter,

One of the things I'd like to do with the TRAP is to publish a monthly, one-page newsletter of reviews. We'll be able to make copies of the newsletter available in the library branches, and eventually, post in on the teen webpage (when ever it goes online). I'd like input from the group on this project. I thought we'd have a "featured book" or "book of the month" - we could have a longer review, include a picture of the book cover, etc, - and then include maybe five other items that members of the TRAP have reviewed over the month. What do you think? I'm totally open to suggestions as to format, design..whatever. If anyone wants to be the newsletter editor (pick the reviews, format the document, etc.) email us and we can work that out too. We'll aim to have the first "issue" out in early October.

P.s. Since it'll be your reviews that we'll be using, please let us know if you don't want your reviews published in the newsletter (just email the teen department at teens@markham.library.on.ca). We'll only use your blog i.d. so you won't have to worry about having your name published or anything like that.

I could help edit, but I'm not sure if I'd have the time. The first issue could be really basic, and we'll see how it works out. Then the issues after we could incorporate designs (I think I could do that).
As for the layout, I think it'd be really cool if it was folded in such a way that the six reviews out be on the outside, and when you opened it up, it would be a huge review on the features book.

i think we should split up the newsletter so it doesn't *only* revolove around books. we should include reviews on movies, cds, and magazines. that way, maybe more teens will notice the newsletter and have a look at it. but of course, the main dish of the newspletter still has to be books. i also want to help with the designing/ editing !!! =)

Jess and Stephie,

Great ideas.

Can you contact Andrea at the branch, 905-513-7977, ext. 7133 when it is convenient?

Again, this would earn volunteer hours.
